In January I had the splendid opportunity to work with Supa Centa Moore Park on a little makeover project in my parents' backyard. Having only lived in apartments as an adult and therefore never having had a garden of my own to channel any creative energies into, it's safe to say I was a little bit excited to play outside for a change.
The before images show what we had to work with. The top one is what it has looked like for at least the last five years (Grey Gardens much?) and the second is the little patio area we excavated from beneath the overgrown lawn. The mood board above is what we had in mind - a cozy, relaxed and eclectic space with a bit of boho and coastal chic thrown in the mix.
Our budget mainly went into building a deck and some landscaping (my dad is a DIY genius) and most of the furniture was provided by the very kind folks at Supa Centa. It's a bit of a band aid solution to the backyard grand plan - a large deck area with a fancy pergola or roof of sorts with raised veggie garden beds around the perimeter (oh and a hot tub if my mum gets her way). Still, it's made such a huge difference to the space right?
It was really fun picking out furniture and accessories and doing some DIY's like bringing those stumps back to life which my dad had kept after a tree in their yard had been chopped down by Council. And of course any project with succulents is a winner in my book.
And guess what? My parents will officially have the garden (and house) to themselves as of tomorrow as we're off to the UK! Well, we'll be in Bali for a week but we'll officially be en route. I have scheduled a couple of posts until we get settled and I'll still be checking in here and over on Instagram and Twitter if you want to hang out. Speak soon friends!
