Last week we covered all things LA and Palm Springs so it's time to get onto the second part of our US trip: San Francisco.
My initial reaction - I mean, after I got over the postcard perfect pastel terraces - was just how similar San Francisco felt to Sydney. Except for the coffee (sorry but blegh) we felt right at home.
We spent about a week there, staying in the Marina District and ticked off most of the touristy things such as Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz (so good!) and riding the cable cars. Other favourite things we did was driving out to Sausalito (such a gorgeous little sleepy town) and Berkeley (great shopping). I also loved the views from Alamo Square Park and spent hours just walking down Union Street in Cow Hollow near where we were staying and looking in all the little shops (I loved Chronicle Books and Union Street Paperie).
Annoyingly (haha) we had blue skies and sunshine all week up until our last 2 days! To say I was excited about the fog when it finally made an appearance would be an understatement. Sigh...
Can we talk about The Mill forever? Oh my. If you're a toast lover (who isn't?) just promise me you'll go there okay?
Also Tartine is a total must. Get the brioche bread and butter pudding and thank me when you do. It's 100% amazing.
Just about everyone recommended we visit the ferry building and I could instantly see why. Homemade wares and yummy food all crammed into a beautiful warehouse type space. I had one of my best mooch days here.
Thank you SO MUCH for all your recommendations, tips and hints for our trip. I loved going through my lists and the comments and picking out activities everyday!
