Canberra is one of my favourite places in Australia. There I said it. I may be biased since it was my home for 5 years while I studied and since it is also where I met my husband but I really cannot fathom why anyone wouldn't like it. It has some really gorgeous shops, fantastic food and coffee, getting anywhere takes 10 minutes and there are a tonne of things to do. Anyway, I recently spent a few very low key days over there wanted to share my current favourite spots to shop and eat. I wanted to keep it bite sized but maybe I'll do a follow up sometime about things to do and see. For now this should keep us busy.
Bison - The motherland of hand crafted ceramics. I adore the colours and the piles of beautifully formed vessels that fill this warehouse.
While you're on Beltana Road also check out the nurseries, grab a kilo of apples at one of the orchards and mooch in the little homeware stores.
Local Press Cafe - My Canberra food go-to lady, Rachi, recommended this cafe on the Kingston foreshore so I legged it over there. The coffee was great, as was the food and I'm hoping once the area has developed a bit more, this will have a beautiful view too.
Shop Girl Flower Girl - this shop you guys. It's a tiny one, but boy do they know how to pick the beautiful things. I want every single thing in this shop. Definitely worth a visit.
The Cupping Room - Another Rachi recommendation. Great coffee and food and while service is generally pretty slow in Canberra town, it is lightening speed over here. They also do cupping demonstrations every weekday at 11.30am so keep that in mind if you're planning your day and are into that kinda thing.
Lonsdale Street Traders - this is a sort of warehouse space filled with really cool shops, each one filled with unique and beautiful things. There's a small vegan bakery right at the back called Sweet Bones and they make a mean brownie. Lonsdale Street Roasters are right next door if you like a caffeine hit with your window shopping.
