It's time for our monthly catch-up, pals! If you want to know more about these posts, skip on over here.
What I’ve been grateful for:
The online community. If someone told me 5 years ago I would form these wonderful friendships via the internet I doubt I would have believed them. Having been able to meet such inspiring people via social media is still more than a little mind blowing to me and I am so grateful to be a part of all this right now.
Getting work. Every time I get an email or phone call from someone wanting to work with me I get butterflies and can't quite believe that they don't have the wrong person. I won't lie, my job is far from all rainbows but it really is rewarding to get paid doing things I *mostly* love..
What I’ve been thinking about:
How fucking brilliant THIS is.
The wave of bloggers breaking up with the internet. What's going on guys? It seems like every week I hear of another couple of bloggers declaring that their heart is no longer in it or that they need to regroup etc. Why do you think this is happening? Is it pressure? And where is it coming from? I need reasons!
What I’m excited for:
What I’ve been doing:
Picnicking of course. And I'm also working on giving The Creatives and our events a home base on the interwebs so that we can get some more of you guys involved. It's funny how things just take on a life of their own sometimes huh?
My favourite part right off the bat:
If you’re not a blogger and you’re just happening upon this well-intentioned rant ...., you’re probably thinking, "Um yeah, Me neither. No one works for free. Why would you?"
And can anyone tell me what the exchange rate is for “shout-outs” these days? ‘Cause I need to check with my landlord how many Tweets she will accept for this month’s rent.
Seriously guys, why are creative work not valued enough to be paid for in money. It takes time, resources and we also pay rent and eat food.
Reading: A donut tour of Melbourne. YES.
Reading: Speaking of Melbourne, did you participate in the Cup festivities this year? This is why I did not. And here's another great post from Tara why animals should not be abused for our entertainment.
Listening to: The Unbearable Lightness of Being Hungry Podcast. Specifically this episode with my friend Hetty from Arthur Street Kitchen / Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett made a jazz album and I really really like it / Christmas carols!!!
Watching: Homeland! I don't know what it is about that show but I just really really love it. I'm also kinda into Madame Secretary right now. Are you guys watching it? I'm told it has nothing on The West Wing which I'm thinking of watching soon.
Tell me about what you've been up to! Or better yet, why don't you join in?
